Inherently, all bluetooth earbuds will have some compromises when compared to their wired brethren. In my work, I usually think the freedom of wireless outshines the typically better sound quality that comes with wired earbuds.

I can't speak specifically about the Etymotics. I had a pair of Shure SE wired buds that probably had better overall sound quality than these. But the Jabras still sound great and give so many additional features that wired buds can't provide. I still highly recommend them even for audiophiles.
